Stairway

Stairway

An entrance way or a lobby is the first impression of every house when you enter. It can be as welcoming or as unwelcoming with the choice of your colors and décor. When we enter a house, if it’s giving a warm welcoming vibe, we feel much at ease and relaxed. Here are some points to consider and some tips to follow to create a perfect lobby and stairway for your home.

Most of the houses are at least double-storey nowadays and most probably have a stairway at the entrance lobby. The best way to enhance a lobby is by painting it with the most relatable colors possible.

If it’s a small space with attached doors to other rooms and a stairway, it’s better to keep it as light as possible so it gives a feeling of openness. Hues of whites and sober greys or mocha are a great option to start with. Lighter shades of green and yellow are also welcoming colors and can lift up any small space.

If it’s a long hallway leading to the lounge or an open space that connects easily to the rest of the house, try choosing colors that compliments the house. Neutrals are a wise option, but if that seems boring, you can always create an accent wall by using a lively color on one wall. It can be the wall beside the stairs and can be used to flaunt your memories in the form of a picture wall.

One decorative wall painted in inviting cozy colors housing art pieces or paintings is a great view to have at an entrance. But if you want to use bold colors at your entrance, use them only if your lobby is an open space and use it in accents, so that it’s not entirely overpowering. White moldings go well with bold colors to neutralize them a bit.

Add mirrors and planters in your lobby as a cherry on top and it’ll look inviting and connected to the outdoors as well.

For giving a rich formal look, go with Master Paints Royal Pearl Emulsion for your accent walls. Royal Matt will do wonders for a classy matt look e.g. the Mocha Mauve will go great on a stairway wall housing white picture frames and white moldings. You can choose Apple White - Luxury Plastic Emulsion for a brighter and refreshing look. If you are looking for a bold splash in the entrance, you can opt the Deep Blue - Super Emulsion as it has a greenish hue to it too and will look classy as an accent.
